Officially, the Met Gala is known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit. It is held every year on the first Monday of May, raising money to fund the museum’s fashion department and marking the beginning of a new exhibition. Every Met Gala encompasses the theme of the exhibit and this year’s theme is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” Guests were encouraged to dress appropriately for the occasion, which meant that some interesting attire would show up. And show up it did.

The hosts of this year’s Met Gala were Rihanna, Amal Clooney, Donatella Versace and Anna Wintour. To attend the event you needed an invitation from the hosts or brought by a company in exchange for wearing their fashion. Tickets costed $30,000 and tables $275,000. In regards to fashion, many celebrity guests attended with the most amazing gowns and outfits. For example, Katy Perry wearing a gold short dress with large angel wings strapped to her back and Rihanna donning a jeweled miter, or pope hat, along with with an interesting outfit.
