“At 7:30 pm, Friday, (January 26,)  Baltimore firefighters responded to a house fire  in the 1100 block of North Mount Street in west Baltimore,” wrote Vanessa Herring, WBAL news reporter. Three people were rescued from the burning home, two children and a woman. Upon reaching the nearest hospital, the two children died from their injuries and the woman was treated for her non-life threatening injuries. The  children were a 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl named Kameron and Jaliyah, and the woman was their aunt. Guy Wilson and Keyona Weaver, parents of the two toddlers, were away from the children because Keyona was in the hospital having a baby. It was after recovering from an emergency C-section when they learned of the news.

After the fire was extinguished, an investigation for the cause of the fire began, however, the parents suspect that a space heater would be the culprit. Friends and family gathered in front of the burned home for an emotional vigil, on Tuesday, January 30. “I want you to know that these are two angels that are always here. Anytime you want to talk to them, talk to them. They hear you, believe me,” said one of the family members at the vigil. The parents spoke at the vigil, reminding everyone of the children being full of life and happiness. The funeral was held on Thursday, February 1, starting at 10 am, at Inner Court Ministries at 1804 Kavanaugh Street.
